Stablecoin Cards in 100+ Countries: Inside the Visa and Bridge Global Rollout

Visa and Stripe-owned Bridge have expanded their partnership to bring stablecoin-linked card issuance to over 100 countries. This is a massive milestone for global travel, as it allows stablecoins (like USDC and USDT) to be spent seamlessly at millions of physical and digital merchants worldwide, with instant fiat conversion at the point of sale.

FurlPay Travels leverages this global network to bridge Web3 wallets with legacy travel merchants (such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and local train networks) that do not yet accept crypto natively.

Real-Time Crypto-to-Fiat Conversion

When a traveler checks out on FurlPay, the platform uses Bridge's API in the background to swap the traveler's stablecoins into the merchant's local currency (USD, EUR, or GBP) in real-time. The merchant receives a standard bank settlement, while the traveler avoids the friction of manual off-ramping or holding multiple fiat currencies.

Global Compliance and the Travel Rule

Operating a cross-border travel network in 2026 requires strict adherence to international regulations, including the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Travel Rule and the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. FurlPay's Dynamic Compliance Engine monitors every transaction:

  • Auto-swapping non-compliant stablecoins into licensed EMTs (Electronic Money Tokens like EURC) for EEA users.
  • Verifying originator and beneficiary identity for transactions exceeding $1,000.
  • Performing real-time sanctions screening before cards are issued.
Compliance isn't a blocker; it's the bridge that allows on-chain finance to scale to the physical world. By embedding Travel Rule verification directly into the checkout, we keep global travel safe and legal.
