What is Ed25519?

Ed25519 is a digital-signature scheme built on the Edwards form of an elliptic curve. It is commonly used in systems such as Solana. Implementations should use a vetted library, keep private keys protected, and verify signatures against the exact message bytes.

A signature check establishes a cryptographic relationship between a key and message, not that a transaction's instructions are safe. A Solana payment system must decode and validate instruction programs, accounts, amounts, and destinations before signing or accepting a transaction.

Treat the byte encoding and message domain as part of the security boundary. Do not accept a signature over one representation as authorization for another without canonical parsing and validation.

Definitions are educational and general. Nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice, and regulatory descriptions summarise frameworks that change — check the current rules for your jurisdiction before relying on them.
