What is Native token?

A native token is an asset issued directly for a particular blockchain network under its native token contract or protocol representation. The same ticker can refer to different assets on different networks, so integrations must identify the network and canonical contract or mint.

Native issuance can remove a bridge from the asset's trust path, but it does not remove issuer, custody, contract, or network risks. Verify the token identifier against the issuer's current documentation before accepting it.

The phrase can also refer to a network's own fee currency. Ask which meaning is intended, and record the precise contract, mint, or protocol asset identifier in payment configuration.

Definitions are educational and general. Nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice, and regulatory descriptions summarise frameworks that change — check the current rules for your jurisdiction before relying on them.
